Mission
Alternative… not so much in the sense of genre, but more in the sense of great artists and tracks not played on mainstream radio. This was the original idea back at the genesis of Alternative radio.
In the late seventies and early eighties, stations like KROQ in Los Angeles and CFNY in Toronto started playing new wave and modern rock tracks that did not have a home on traditional rock radio. The model evolved into what we know today as Alternative. However, those traditional rock stations are long gone, many flipped to Classic Rock, and Alternative stations became mainstream.
Our mission is to take up the banner of those founding stations. Play new wave and modern rock that is too grown up for alternative, too real for top 40, and too good for indie. A mix of great artists and tracks not available anywhere else: True Alternative.

At True Alternative, we are passionate about audio quality. We stream at the same bit rate that traditional radio stations send to their transmitters.
